Meal-prep container count and rotation planner
Compare containers, additional purchases and volume for all-at-once storage or reuse.
Compare containers, additional purchases and volume for all-at-once storage or reuse.
Quantity only: no food safety, safe storage duration, nutrition, calorie or medical assessment. Check storage conditions, use-by dates and after-opening labels. Defaults are examples, not health standards. Rotation assumes emptied containers can be washed and reused immediately, filling meals in stages. All meals packed together at the start require the full-storage count. Wash intervals are not safe food storage durations; assess storage and hygiene separately.
Inputs are calculated only in your browser; never sent to the server, analytics or URL.
Method
Total planned portions = People × Planned meals per person per day × Prep planning days; Full simultaneous-storage containers = ceil(Total planned portions ÷ Portions per container)
Rotation containers = ceil(People × Planned meals per person per day × min(Prep planning days, Wash interval (days)) ÷ Portions per container)
Additional for full storage = max(0, Full simultaneous-storage containers − Containers owned (optional)); Additional for rotation = max(0, Rotation containers − Containers owned (optional))
Packs for full storage = ceil(Additional for full storage ÷ Containers per pack (optional)); Packs for rotation = ceil(Additional for rotation ÷ Containers per pack (optional))
Full storage volume (L) = Full simultaneous-storage containers × Storage volume per container (optional); Rotation storage volume (L) = Rotation containers × Storage volume per container (optional)
