What this page does
It adds tax to an exclusive price, removes tax from an inclusive price, and shows the tax amount. Mixed rates in one basket, invoices, tax returns, input-tax credit, and currency conversion are not part of this page.
Formulas
Tax inclusive is tax exclusive × (1 + rate ÷ 100).
Tax exclusive is tax inclusive ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100).
The tax amount is tax inclusive − tax exclusive.
Examples
Adding 10% to 1000 gives a tax-inclusive 1100 and tax of 100. Removing 10% from 1100 gives a tax-exclusive 1000 and tax of 100. At 8%, 1000 exclusive becomes 1080 inclusive.
Rates and rounding
10% and 8% are shortcuts. You can type any rate of 0 or more, including a rate above 100. This page does not lock in a later rule change. An invoice or a filing can differ because of that business’s rounding. Amounts, the rate, and the result are not sent for measurement.
