The count uses calendar dates, not a split of 24-hour blocks. From 1 January 2026 to 2 January 2026 is 1 day when the end date is left out.
What this page does
It counts the days between two dates, and it finds the calendar date a whole number of days after or before a reference date. It does not count business days, holidays, times, or time zones.
How the day count works
Without the end date, the count is the calendar distance from the start to the end. 1 January 2026 to 2 January 2026 is 1 day, and the same day is 0. Including the end date makes those 2 days and 1 day. If the start is later than the end, the page still returns a positive span from the earlier date to the later one.
Days after and days before
A whole number of days is added to or taken from the reference date. Zero days after or before is that same date. One day after is the next day, and one day before is the previous day.
Calendar days
Dates are local calendar days. The count is not hours divided by 24, and a leap day counts as one day. Daylight saving time does not shift the date by a day.
Examples
1 January 2026 to 2 January 2026 is 1 day, or 2 days if the end date is included. 28 February 2024 to 1 March 2024 is 2 days and includes the leap day. One day after 1 January 2026 is 2 January 2026, and one day before is 31 December 2025.
Questions
Does the day count include the end date?
Not at first. 1 January 2026 to 2 January 2026 is 1 day. Turn on “Include the end date” and it becomes 2 days.
Can I find a date several days ahead?
Enter a reference date and a number of days, then choose after or before. Zero stays on the reference date.
Are the dates sent anywhere?
